SwaRM 2009

It was an evening to remember - ESI's 6th Annual Day celebrations was held on December 4th, 2009.

Terry Sweeney, CEO of the RM Group, accompanied by his wife, Charlotte Sweeney, got the evening off to an auspicious start with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. If in 2008, Connell Viegas, CEO of RM ESI, started his welcome note with a symbolic gesture of silence for those killed in Mumbai on 26th November 2008; this year he called for a round of applause for our security forces, without whom we would not have had a safe 2009. Connell's welcome note was followed by Chris Clements' (Non Resident Managing Director of RMESI) address to ESI staff - a colourful presentation of the year gone by at RM ESI. Terry Sweeney's address was insightful, where he listed out the RM Group's priorities in the coming year.

On this upbeat note, medals and certificates were given away to the outstanding achievers of 2009, both on and off the field -(referring to the sports awards here!).

Act II of the evening was an eclectic mix of cultural programmes starting with the welcome dance. Participation was amazing, with nearly every division in RM ESI presenting a programme each.

There was an outstanding presentation of popular Indian love stories narrated through song and dance; a skit called Friday Release on the pitfalls of using pirated software; Pathasala was a play on 'education through the ages'; a ping pong ball match with the MATRIX effect and a spoof on happenings in ESI! And last but not the least, a medley of Indian dances featuring classical, contemporary, folk and gharba dance forms.

And such wonderfully rehearsed events they turned out to be! An absolute treat to watch!

That was not all folks! There was even a magic show by our resident magician and delightful caricatures of our U.K guests, courtesy our cartoonists. Dinner was followed by the DJ... an evening to cherish for all at ESI!
