Cubicle Decoration Day

Friday 9th May was a day much awaited by the techies at RM ESI. The Annual Day celebrations began during the day itself. Employees were given complete freedom to decorate their cubicles in any way they liked. To encourage team work, people were allowed to select upto 6 cubicles and create a fantasy land out of it.

The winner was a cinema theatre displaying posters of the latest films, including a photograph of their manager - RM is a place where managers are very down to earth and enjoy a good laugh even when it's at their expense! They also hung an "Entertainment Policy" which had everyone who read it in splits.

There were also very authentic looking tea stalls with teams trying to bribe the judges with their vadas and pazham poris. There was a "bar" displaying imported liquor. Since the company doesn't allow liquor in the campus, the team later confessed the exotic looking bottles contained tea and jeera water!

The "Party Office" located next to the bar and tea shop was so authentic with flags flying and the team shouting slogans demanding closing down of the bar and the hotel which they claimed sold stale food!

Perhaps it's the child in us, but 2 teams went in for a "play school" and it was a laugh to see them dressed up in kiddy clothes and sitting on playmats playing with toys and sucking their thumbs.

In sync with RM's "Green" image, one team created a green house which contained all sorts of green plants and flowers.  There were funny numbers like "Paramu's Barber Shop", a prison with a "Wanted" list on its walls which contained  images of some people in the company including managers - the images were enhanced with "special effects" like drooping moustaches etc!

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day!

It looked like folks wanted to prove innovation is indeed the mantra out here whether it is in technology development or in sheer fun exercises like this one.
