RM ESI’s School Welfare Programme

The Hindu, 3 August 2009

As part of RM Education Solution India’s (RM ESI) ongoing social welfare initiatives, school uniforms were distributed to all the 111 students at the Government Lower Primary School, Karichar (Kaniyapuram sub-district).

The uniforms were personally handed over to the students by Chris Clements, Non-resident Managing Director of RM ESI, at a small gathering at the Karichar School last week. Afterwards, Chris Clements interacted with the students and teachers and spent over an hour at the school.

The school Head Mistress, Mrs Leela, approached us after hearing about RM ESI’s support to the Kazhakootam Government School since 2007. Last year, RM ESI equipped the Science and Computer Lab at the Kazhakootam School.

Going forward, RM ESI staff plan to help out the students at the school by training them to use the IT equipment in the schools' computer lab. They also hope to contribute to the development of the children’s soft skills by coaching them in English and other soft skills.

The Karichar Lower Primary School has classes from kindergarten till Class 4 i.e. age 9. A majority of the students here are from extremely poor families with out even the means to have 3 square meals a day. Most of them get by with the free lunch provided by the school under the Mid-day Meal Scheme.

The Karichar School sent us a letter of appreciation for all the help extended to them.

I see this as part of our social responsibility and being in the education field we are very keen to see our kids growing up to be good citizens. We’d just like to do our bit to contribute to their learning process in any way we can.
