Book fair with a difference
The Hindu, 10 Feb 2006
It is one of the most unlikely places to search for a cookbook - the building of RM Education Solutions India (RM ESI), a company involved in developing educational software at Technopark. Yet, master chef Sanjeev Kapoor's `Best of Chinese Cooking' is one among the several cookery books on display at a two-day book exhibition organised by the software company.
The cookbooks, which also include recopies on vegetarian snacks and starters, share space with technical tomes such as ASP 2.0, Visual basic 2005 and ASP.net 2005. The exhibition also features some of the popular works of Dan Brown, Vikram Seth, R.K. Narayan and Arundhati Roy. Seven publishers including TBS, DC and Southern Book Star are participating in the fair, which began here on Thursday.
According to the organisers, they are looking at the book fair as an extension of the in-house library facility. It will act as a stress-buster for the software professionals who have a hectic daily schedule, they said. There is a great demand for fiction, poetry, short story and Malayalam literature, they added. The exhibition is open to all the employees at the Technopark.
